HCAC develops quality improvement performance measures and delivers quality improvement programs.
The HCAC assists health care facilities to meet and maintain quality standards. We do so by enabling health care professionals to measure themselves against these standards and monitor improvements using our quality improvement methods. We also identify impediments to improvement and develop strategies to overcome them.
The areas of HCAC business and activities are:
-
To establish, revise, classify and disseminate National Health Care Standards for health care facility and programs which meet the requirements of the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua)
-
To help health care facilities and providers to understand the meaning of Health Care Standards
-
To certify surveyors and to survey facilities and programs against standards and recommend an accreditation award
-
To continuously improve the quality and safety of health care services
