On behalf of the Board of the Health Care Accreditation Council, I am delighted to address you through our website. The Health Care Accreditation Council was officially registered in December 2007, but the work for realizing this great national achievement began well before this. The Council has been enriched and supported with the enthusiastic and selfless contributions of so many organizations and individuals as a result of their belief and commitment to this vital and significant effort.
The realization of HCwAC came as result of work of many different health care stakeholders from the government, government bodies, non governmental organizations, health professional associations, health providers and members of the society and public committed to the mission and vision of the HCAC. The joining of these efforts and realization of the HCAC is a living example of sector wide collaboration in its broadest sense. In working with our stakeholders, HCAC has helped to build consensus around important health care quality issues through the engagement with our stakeholders on what’s important, how to measure it and how to promote improvement. This consensus is invaluable- and will aid in transforming the health care system and the future of health care services.
Accreditation is one of several means by which health service performance may be evaluated and improved. We aim to complement the work of many in this regard through the HCAC accreditation program. Our objective is to increase the quality of and safety of care through providing organization wide framework for minimizing risk, evaluating performance and implementing improvements. The HCAC surveyors look for evidence of activities, systems and processes that support the achievement of required outcomes for patients, employees and the community.
This, HCAC believes, is the way forward in our long term aspiration to contribute significantly to all the efforts directed at making Jordan a global hub of health care excellence.
