The HCAC accreditation model sees the accreditation process as an ongoing drive for continuous improvement, in which healthcare institutions and professionals become the managers of their own development. In this way, step by step, the stages of self assessment, detection of areas of improvement and/or development and subsequent monitoring take on the most important role in the model.
The HCAC is present in the entire process and provides the facilities and the professionals with the tools and skills they require to drive their institutions towards continuous quality improvement.
For health care facilities meeting HCAC accreditation requirements, accreditation is granted for 2 years.
